Christians from many traditions seek an ecumenical approach to Christian-Muslim dialogue
The World Council of Churches (WCC), together with a number of Christian world communions, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and the Roman Catholic Church are expecting some 50 church leaders and experts on Christian-Muslim dialogue to attend a consultation from 18 to 20 October in Chavannes-de-Bogis, outside Geneva, Switzerland.

WCC general secretary visits India and Sri Lanka
India and Sri Lanka, two South Asian countries that have seen alarming levels of violence in recent months and years, will receive a 16-23 October the visit of a World Council of Churches (WCC) delegation headed by general secretary Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia.
Eastern Orthodox leaders recommit themselves to dialogue
Patriarchs, primates and representatives of Eastern Orthodox churches recommitted themselves to overcome intra-Orthodox conflicts as well as to continue theological dialogues with Christians from other confessions at a 10-12 October meeting in Istanbul, Turkey.
Mission event in 2012 to substitute for world mission conference
The Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) of the World Council of Churches (WCC) agreed to hold a mission event involving some 200 participants in mid-2012, in advance of the WCC 10th assembly to take place the following year.

WCC youth team views situations of violence in India
Despite having a constitution which does not allow discrimination and a proactive government working for the integration of the marginalized parts of society, violence and discrimination persist in some parts of India.
Members of ECHOS, the World Council of Churches (WCC) commission on Youth, were exposed to the many facets of violence in India during community visits in advance of their recent meetings held in Bangalore 1-10 October 2008.
