Ecumenical Water Network Participants’ Meeting 2008 (pdf, 1MB)
In October 2008, 30 representatives of churches and ecumenical partners from 19 countries came together in Bossey, Switzerland, for the first general meeting of participants and partners of the Ecumenical Water Network. Together they reviewed the accomplishments and discussed future strategies of the Ecumenical Water Network. The principles on which the network operates and a new Steering Group were confirmed. This report summarizes the proceedings and results of the meeting.

In Lesotho, one of the main water management issues is the construction of big dams to make possible large-scale water transfers. It is clear that this is a policy option which is growing in importance all over Africa. It is promoted as a way to provide water and energy for much-needed economic development. However, the history of dam-building shows that such large-scale projects often have considerable negative impacts on affected communities and on the environment.
Ideas for World Water Day 2009 (pdf, 200 KB)
World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Included here are just a small sample of the many possible activities that you could organize in your congregations or elsewhere for World Water Day and during Lent.
Seven Weeks for Water
Make Lent a time to promote water justice and water as a human right. The weekly meditations for the seven weeks of Lent are a way of trying to raise awareness of water and justice around World Water Day on 22 March. Each week during Lent a short biblical meditation is being posted on the website of the Ecumenical Water Network accompanied by some campaigning links and ideas.

Identifying and Addressing Violations of the Human Right to Water (pdf, 1.45 MB)
The Ecumenical Water Network, Brot für die Welt, and FIAN International have published an updated edition of The brochure seeks to assist affected communities and those who support them in their struggles at the grassroots, by addressing violations of the human right to water, defending and reclaiming people's rights and their access to water.
Conference Report: Churches for Water in Africa. 21-25 May 2007, Entebbe, Uganda (pdf, 12.8 MB)
This report summarizes and reflects the proceedings of the conference 'Churches for Water in Africa', which took place in Entebbe, Uganda, in May 2007. The conference had over 70 participants, including church representatives, NGO activists and water experts from 19 African countries as well as from Europe and Latin America. It was jointly organized by the Secretariat of the Ecumenical Water Network, All Africa Conference of Churches, Uganda Joint Christian Council and the Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development.
The Water Gazette
