The Ecumenical Water Network (EWN) strives to promote the preservation, responsible management and the equitable distribution of water for all, based on the understanding that water is a gift of God and a fundamental human right.
We believe that water is to be preserved and shared for the benefit of all creatures and the wider creation.

Inspired by participating in the Youth for Eco-Justice training, a joint project of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) in Durban, South Africa last year, Kristi Holmberg started a “Climate Justice Campaign” which concluded successfully on 22 April, Earth Day.

Climate justice and the integrity of creation have been of concern to churches around the world. While stakeholders in the debate on climate change will gather at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development Rio+20 this year in June, the World Council of Churches (WCC) hopes for discussions to go beyond the narrow understandings of a green economy and the international framework for sustainable development.

Interfaith perspectives on water and ecology
"Hinduism teaches that everything on earth is the manifestation of God and the Hindu principles are closely linked to nature", said Dr N. Gopalakrishnan, director of Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage, in his keynote address at the session on Hinduism and Ecology at the international meeting on 'Religious response to ecological challenges' in Kerala, India.
