Edinburgh 2010

From 2-6 June 2010, the world church celebrates the centenary of the historic World Mission Conference, held in Edinburgh in 1910.

On this occasion, Christians from all over the world will come to Edinburgh to join in unity and explore different ways of witnessing to Christ today. The centenary offers a space for reflection on mission in the light of the experience of the past hundred years and the realities of Christian mission in the 21st century.

The World Council of Churches (WCC) supports the organization of this celebrative and widely owned mission conference, together with partners in the ecumenical movement, within and outside the WCC's fellowship.

In parallel to the centenary conference a plethora of workshops, events and services are being organized by local churches and organizations.

A multi-denominational and international study process has been set up to commemorate the 1910 World Missionary Conference, and to provide new perspectives on mission for the 21st century.

The Edinburgh 2010 conference website offers various opportunities to get involved; it is thus possible to follow the conference online, to discuss and study crucial mission topics, or to set up local events commemorating the centenary.
