First encounter with ecumenical movement: This is my first experience with the ecumenical movement.

I think churches should be in the centre of the world and their first purpose should be to be aware of what's happening in the world and live the gospel in all situations, giving young people a place and voice. Ecumenical organizations are best prepared to include all the young people in all the churches in making the world have a better future.

The church must think more about environmental issues. In Haiti right now people live like animals, not people. Until the environment is cleaned up, the situation of the people will not improve. I don't live in Port-au-Prince, but when I passed through there on my way here, I saw that the people live in terrible conditions. When it rains, it is terrible. When it is hot and sunny, it is terrible. The WCC needs to help people see the situation in Haiti and determine ways to help the people. I cannot see that the government in Haiti is effective. People give lots of aid, but the people continue to live the same way – no water, not enough food and shelter.

The biggest challenge in Haiti right now is leadership – they spend too much time in assemblies and don't give any responsibility to the young people. The WCC could help develop new leaders. In some churches we have big problems because too many people do whatever they want without thinking about the welfare of the people or the whole church.
