The theme, based on Ephesians 4:1-3, calls us to bear with each other in love, despite all difficulties and oppression. “We reflected collectively on this theme from the context of our suffering as Palestinian Christian women,” the preparers write in their introduction. “We hope to inspire other women around the world to bear with one another in love during troubled times.”
The origins of World Day of Prayer date back to the 19th century when Christian women of United States and Canada initiated a variety of cooperative activities in support of women’s involvement in mission at home and in other parts of the world.
The day is inspired by informed prayer and prayerful action.
