Participants Meeting 2008

Representatives of participant and partner organizations of the Ecumenical Water Network came together in Bossey, Switzerland, 22-24 October 2008.

The thirty participants came from 18 different countries around the world.

Joakim Harlin from the United Nations Development Programme gave a keynote on "The global water crisis - challenges and opportunities" (on the left: Asa Elfstrom, Church of Sweden).

Arthur Shoo from the All Africa Conference of Churches in Kenya presents water-related challenges in East Africa.

Expert panel on approaches in working for water for all:

Augustine Mwaimu (Anglican Church of Tanzania), Gaim Kebreab (Norwegian Church Aid), Michael Windfuhr (Brot fuer die Welt), Carlos Moeller (National Council of Churches of Brazil)

A time of sharing and discussion: All participants had time to meet in regional groups and discussed both challenges and opportunities for working together. Here the group formed from participants from the Americas,...

...from Africa,...

...and from Europe.

Let it rain: Danuta Sacher (Brot für die Welt), the outgoing chair of the EWN Steering Group, receives an oikoumene umbrella as an appreciation for her work and support ever since the creation of the network.

United by a common vision - participants of the EWN from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Creativity outside the conference room:

An exhibition of works of young participants from this year's Summer School on Water. On the right: Rania Flavie Touma from Syria, on the left: Angelious Michael from India, who both had participated in the Summer School and now returned to Bossey in order to represent their organizations in the EWN participants meeting.
