Dom Luiz Cappio in hunger strike in protest against the transposition of the São Francisco river


On November 27, the bishop of the diocese of Barra (state of Bahia), Dom Luiz Flávio Cappio, started to fast again in protest against the São Francisco river transposition project. In a letter sent to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, he stressed that he will only stop fasting when the projects are suspended.

Bulawayo churches become 'water points' to ease shortages

Harare, 20 September (ENI)--Churches in Bulawayo have begun to supply residents of Zimbabwe's second largest city with water for domestic use, in an attempt to lessen the effects of shortages made worse by a struggle over control of the water supply.

A report on the World Water Week in Stockholm


“There is progress, but by far not enough,” Anders Berntell, executive director of the host Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), summarized the achievement and future challenge in the closing of the World Water Week 2007.
