The EWN at the World Social Forum
Between January 20th and 25th, members of the EWN will participate in the 7th World Social Forum (WSF) taking place in Nairobi, Kenya. The WSF will be an important moment to exchange and discuss ideas on how we can work together to ensure and promote people's access to water worldwide and particularly in the African communities.
The EWN will be involved in the organisation of two activities:
Water and climate change in Africa
The event will focus on the growing problem of climate change and water scarcity that many African and other communities are facing. Instead of addressing the need for high-level government action the presentations will deliberately focus on regional and community-based initiatives that can help to mitigate the effects of climate change on people's water supply - such as rainwater harvesting, re-forestation etc. Confirmed speakers are Mrs. Danuta Sacher, Prof. Jesse Mugambi, Mrs. Grace Akumu.
Organized by AACC/Caritas Internationalis, Ecumenical Water Network, Climate Network Africa
