Concilio Luterano Internacional
Además de la Federación Luterana Mundial, otro organismo mundial que congrega a las iglesias luteranas es el Concilio Luterano Internacional (CLI). El CLI se creó oficialmente en 1993 como resultado de un proceso de formación que comenzó en 1952. El CLI se define como "una asociación mundial de cuerpos eclesiásticos luteranos confesionales establecidos, que proclaman el Evangelio de Cristo Jesús basado en un compromiso incondicional de las Sagradas Escrituras como la Palabra inspirada de Dios y las Confesiones Luteranas contenidas en el Libro de Concordia, como la fiel y verdadera exposición de la Palabra de Dios". El Concilio Luterano Internacional cuenta con 30 iglesias miembros que representan 3,3 millones de cristianos en el mundo. La oficina del CLI está situada en St. Louis, Misuri (EUA).
