Ecumenical projects by WCC interns 2008 WCC Programmes R In February 2008, five young adults came to Geneva, Switzerland for the World Council of Churches Internship Programme. At the end of their internships in January 2009, each of them started to prepare an ecumenical project based on their interests, passions, concerns and what they had learned during their formative ecumenical experience with the WCC. Voices of Youth: Stronger and Better Heard Echos - Commission on youth in the ecumenical movement M Members of ECHOS, the World Council of Churches (WCC) commission on Youth, met in Bangalore, India 1-10 October 2008. The 25 members of ECHOS represent a variety of WCC consultative commissions, Central and Executive Committee, the Catholic and Pentecostal Youth and Students Networks as well as regional and global youth organizations, like the World Students Christian Federation (WSCF). Christian youth movements call for signs of unity Wider ecumenical movement (incl WCC) S A number of major international Christian youth movements and organizations called for stronger efforts towards unity in a joint statement issued on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Addressed to the heads of the Roman Catholic Church, the World Council of Churches, Christian World Communions and Regional Ecumenical Organizations, the statement asks them to "share ecumenical dialogue with young people" and expresses the commitment of the signatories to "raise awareness of the importance of Christian unity among young people". 23 January 2008

World Trade Game WCC Programmes B The World Trade Game was initially developed in the 1990s by Action Aid, the global anti-poverty development organization. Its strength is its simplicity. Six groups of players represent two rich, two middle-income and two poor countries and each group has different resources and technological potential. National resources are represented as paper whilst technology becomes scissors, pens, rulers, etc. They manufacture shapes from paper, trade the shapes for money through a commodity trader and may also trade amongst themselves in raw materials (paper), technology (scissors, ruler, etc), skills and labour. 01 January 2006
