Every year the Geneva-based UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) reviews the situation of children in different countries. WCC member churches and partners are invited to consider submitting alternative reports with their observations from the ground.

A member church which submits an alternative report, either alone or through a child rights coalition, may get invited to discuss its observations with UNCRC members. For details on how to submit a shadow report please download the pdf document below.

Another way to get involved is to follow the recommendations made by the UNCRC to their country through the webcast (www.treatybodywebcast.org), print the recommendations, and use these as advocacy tools. In some cases child-friendly versions of the UNCRC recommendations are available: spread the word among children and youth in your communities!

An overview of the countries which will be reviewed by the UN Committee of the Rights of the Child is available on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights website.
