VII. United and uniting Churches

Message from the 8th International Consultation of United and Uniting Churches, Johannesburg, South Africa, 2008
Every six or seven years, the WCC Faith and Order Commission facilitates a meeting of United or Uniting churches. These are churches formed from unions often involving different confessional families. Because they are united or uniting, they bear witness in a special way of the search for the visible unity of Christians and churches. During their 2008 8th international consultation, they confirmed and renewed their commitment to "travelling the road to more visible unity", insisted in a special way on the ties between unity, reconciliation and justice, and identified issues related to their journey into the future.
