World Week for Peace in Palestine Israel

An initiative of the Palestine Israel Ecumenical Forum (PIEF) of the World Council of Churches
Participants in World Week for Peace are encouraged to take specific actions that will help bring the occupation of Palestine to an end. World Week for Peace seeks to offer support and encouragement to those working for a just peace for all in Palestine and Israel, focusing on the call to pray, educate, and advocate for peace.
Pray
Include the Jerusalem Prayer in your service of worship on Sunday, 3 June 2012.
Use one of the ecumenical liturgies being designed for World Week for Peace 2012 in a service of worship during 28 May - 3 June 2012.
Send a prayer of support and encouragement to a Christian congregation in Palestine.
Educate
Read and distribute the Kairos Palestine Document, the Amman Call, and other messages of hope and peace from the Palestinian Christian community.
Contact your annual conference, prebytery, synod, or other denominational or church-wide office to learn more about the position and policy of your church on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Sponsor a forum or gathering in your congregation or community to provide information on the history of the conflict, the present injustices suffered by Palestinians, and the way we as Christians can be a part of the peace-making process.
Advocate
Write a letter or place a phone call to your elected representatives to express your displeasure with current governmental policies that help to maintain the occupation of Palestine.
Support the efforts of Palestinian tour operators and guides seeking to bring the values of responsible tourism to Palestine and Israel.
Join a campaign that aims to use economic measures to end the occupation and bring a just and lasting peace to all in Palestine and Israel.
