HIV-competent church

This activity involves gathering information on, and lifting up good practices and responses by faith-based and civil society initiatives in various communities; helping to form regional faith-based networks to focus on children and HIV; and making sure that faith communities' responses to the needs of children in the context of HIV are grounded in theological reflection and understanding. To this aim, the World Council of Churches works  in close collaboration with the Circle of Concerned African Women Theologians, the Caribbean Conference of Churches, Christian Aid, UNICEF and UNAIDS

The activity also addresses churches' general competencies in dealing with the various facets of HIV. In an effort to develop self-assessment tools and peer review mechanisms for measuring engagement, competencies and effectiveness, such tools will be tested, tried and promoted for wider application.
