The World Council of Churches (WCC) Commission of the Churches on International Affairs will be holding an international hearing on:

“Misuse of the blasphemy law and religious minorities in Pakistan”

from 17 – 19 September

at

the Ecumenical Centre, Visser't Hooft Plenary Hall

A UN side event will take place on 18 September from 13.00 – 14.30 at Place de Nations.

 

A press conference will be held on 17 September13.30 at the Ecumenical Centre following the public hearing in the morning. Media representatives are welcome to all of the events. The proceedings will be in English only. The WCC will provide press kits (in English) and background information.

  • Ms Asiya Nasir, Member of Parliament (Federal Assembly)
  • Moulana Qari Hanif Jalandhari, clergy, secretary Federal Board of  Wafaqul Madares (Islamic Schools) and president of Pakistan World Council of Religions
  • Bishop Samuel Azariah, WCC Executive Committee member, moderator of the Church of Pakistan
  • Dr Mathews George Chunakara, director of WCC’s Commission of the Churches on International Affairs
