Media accreditation is now available in advance of the World Council of Churches (WCC) 10th Assembly, to be held in Busan, Republic of Korea, from 30 October to 8 November, 2013.
The WCC assembly is the most diverse global gathering of Christians in the world and meets every 7-8 years to set the future agenda of the council, elect governance officials and speak with a common and public voice on behalf of churches around the world.
Accreditation will allow media access to all venues at the assembly open to the public, including plenary and business sessions, morning and evening prayers and special services, workshops and other special events as well as press conferences.
It also provides exclusive access to the Assembly Press Center which will offer a variety of services including WiFi access, work tables with computer hookup, closed circuit broadcast of the assembly and video and audio editing stations.
To register for accreditation download the application forms here and send us your application by email as soon as possible. Receiving accreditation is simple and straightforward. Once accreditation is approved, an additional step of completing the official registration for the assembly will be required. Accredited journalists are exempt from the registration fee.
The assembly is being held in the BEXCO Convention and Conference Center in the heart of Busan and is hosted by the WCC member churches of Korea.
Representatives from nearly all of the 349 WCC member churches, which include Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox, Pentecostal and Evangelical churches, will attend. The Roman Catholic Church, not a member of the WCC, will also be represented by an observer delegation.
The theme of the 10th Assembly, “God of Life, lead us to justice and peace”, is a particularly poignant theme for the context of a divided Korea and the continuing violence and poverty around the world that disrupts societies and people.
