”It is an honour and privilege to be among you and to convey greetings to you on behalf of the World Council of Churches (WCC)”, said Stanley Noffsinger, new WCC director of the office of the general secretariat, during a meeting of the Worldwide Moravian Church Unity Synod in Jamaica in late August.

Speaking on behalf of WCC general secretary Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit and moderator of the Central Committee Dr Agnes Abuom, Noffsinger took the opportunity to express prayerful support. “Be assured that you are held in prayer throughout the world and within the many confessions represented among our member churches.”

“The World Council of Churches is deeply grateful for who you are and all that you do to reflect that vision of unity defined by justice and peace. Thank you for inviting us to accompany you,” Noffsinger concluded.

Stanley Noffsinger has recently ended almost 13 years of service as general secretary of the Church of the Brethren, based in Elgin, Illinois, the United States. Noffsinger assumed the position of WCC director of the office of the general secretariat in September 2016.
