WCC and AACC condemn the destruction of a Christian church in Sudan

The general secretaries of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) have expressed their shock and profound concern following the demolition of an Episcopal parish church in Khartoum on orders of Sudanese government authorities.

Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit of the WCC and Rev. Dr André Karamaga of the AACC noted that this action appears to be the latest in a series of “calculated attacks” on minority communities in Sudan, “and in particular Christians.” Calling for an end to the violation of basic human rights, they also requested the prayers of believers around the world for faith communities facing these difficult times in Sudan.
