The WCC currently seeks a Coordinator and Programme Liaison Officer for its Public Information Team.

As Programme Liaison Officer, the successful candidate for this position will:

* collaborate with WCC leadership in developing overall strategy for communicating the WCC;

* participate in the planning of activities undertaken by WCC teams to ensure that communication is an integral part of such activities from the outset;

* assist teams and staff in developing their own communication skills;

* take part in the teams' key staff meetings in order to better understand their work;

* develop, with the Publications and Research team, products to communicate the work of the teams;

* work with the teams to identify points of potential collaboration in the area of communication;

* build relationships with communicators in the wider constituency to increase mutual understanding and co-operation between them and with the WCC.

As Team Coordinator, she/he will:

* oversee strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and internal/external reporting for the team;

* be responsible for the financial management of the team's activities;

* ensure that team activities are carried out effectively in relation to its mandate;

* supervise staff and ensure mutual accountability and equitable sharing of workload among colleagues;

* foster a spirit of co-operation among teams in order to increase effectiveness of the Council's programme work as a whole; assume responsibility for leading inter-team groups on priority concerns;

* contribute to the assessment and development of the Council's work, and advise the General Secretary on policy matters through the Staff Executive Group;

* fulfil public representation on behalf of the Council as a whole.

As someone committed to the ecumenical movement and the WCC fellowship, and aware of the different socio-political, cultural and religious contexts affecting the life of its member churches, the successful candidate for this position will be able to work with churches, ecumenical bodies and groups in their own contexts, identify new trends, and translate the life and witness of the churches and their local experiences into communication strategies. She/he will be able to encourage dialogue and trust between church communicators and other partners, interpret issues from an ecumenical, theological and ethical perspective, and work in a flexible, collaborative way in a multi-cultural environment.

Specific qualifications required for this position include a university degree or equivalent, theological knowledge, analytical skills, computer literacy, ability to work in English and at least one of the other working languages of the WCC, editorial, writing and communication skills, and expertise in at least one aspect of media communication, as well as familiarity with communication media as a whole.
