Liberationist, feminist, southern perspectives on power

23-28 February 2004, Chiang Mai, Thailand

The World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Christian Conference of Asia will bring together younger theologians from the South to address issues of power as both a dominating and liberating force. Participants will examine critical and theological inputs on power from liberationist and feminist perspectives, fostering a new ecumenical vision for the 21st century and working towards a culture of peace. This consultation, another step in the WCC Decade to Overcome Violence, follows the December 2003 Crêt Bérard consultation identifying core issues of power. Results of this series will be published as part of the WCC Theological Reflection on Peace towards the end of 2004.
