Soundings in contemporary and historical ecumenical self-understanding form the substance of the double issue of The Ecumenical Review just released from Wiley Blackwell.

Leading with a biblical reflection on the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace by Korean theologian Hyunju Bae, the issue includes substantial overview reports from the WCC moderator, Dr Agnes Abuom, and the general secretary, Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, along with three pieces from Rev. Dr Hielke Wolters, the recently retired associate general secretary, most notably discussing advocacy and mission in an age of secularism. Longtime ecumenist  Diane C. Kessler rounds out the feature articles with an assessment of the role of the WCC today.

Among the important documents in the Ecumenical Chronicle section are the encyclical and ecumenical statement of the recent Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church in Crete and four key statements from the concurrent WCC Central Committee, including the full text of the new landmark theological statement of EDAN, the Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network.
