“…the most important thing I’ve ever done is to become a follower of Jesus. I took my first steps with Him about 42 years ago,” says Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby in a recently released video as part of a “Pledge2Pray” campaign.

“Following Jesus has been the core point of my life and that’s one reason I wanted everyone to hear His voice calling to them and to learn what it is to find His love, His call, His direction, His purpose. That’s why I'm pledging to pray for more people to know the life-transforming love of Jesus Christ.”

Pledge2Pray is a global wave of prayer that will occur from 25 May to 4 June during which people around the world will come together to discover new ways of praying that their friends, family and neighbours come to know Jesus Christ.

Welby is encouraging people to join the campaign, offered by “Thy Kingdom Come," a global prayer movement which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. Thy Kingdom Come began as an invitation from the archbishops of Canterbury and York in 2016 to the Church of England, and has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

“Following Jesus has been the core point of my life and that’s one reason I wanted everyone to hear His voice calling to them and to learn what it is to find His love, His call, His direction, His purpose,” Welby concludes in the video. “That’s why I'm pledging to pray for more people to know the life-transforming love of Jesus Christ.”
