This seminar is being organized in conjunction with the visit to the World Council of Churches of a delegation from the China Christian Council (CCC) and the Three Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM) of Protestant Churches in China.

The seminar will be open to the media, and focus on topics which are pertinent to the life and witness of the church in China, in a rapidly changing context of a shift from socialism/a centrally controlled economy to market-oriented reforms.

There will be three separate presentations. These will be followed by discussion on the following topics:

- The current situation of the church and reconstruction of theological thinking in China : Rev. Ji Jianhong Chairperson of the National Committee of TSPM of Protestant Churches in China, and executive vice-president of the Nanjing Union Theological Seminary.

- Witness and service of Chinese churches: Rev. Mei Kangjun Executive associate general secretary of the National Committee of TSPM of Protestant Churches in China, and chief editor of Tian Feng

- The status of women in the growing church in China: Ms. Chen Meilin Executive associate general secretary and director of Overseas Relations Department of CCC.

The seven-member delegation will be headed by Rev. (Ms.) Cao Shenjie, president of the CCC, and Rev. Ji Jianhong, chairperson of the National Committee of the TSPM of Protestant Churches in China.
