Archbishop of Canterbury visits WCC

As part of the celebrations of its 70th anniversary year, the World Council of Churches welcomes the official visit and public lecture by The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury on 16 February 2018.

As part of the celebrations of its 70th anniversary year, the World Council of Churches welcomes the official visit and public lecture by The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury on 16 February 2018.

The lecture will explore new dimensions in ecumenism, including ‘the ecumenism of action’.

  • 15:15-15:45: Service of prayer – a brief homily will be delivered by the Archbishop
  • 16:00-17:00: Public Lecture: Ecumenical Spring: from Negotiated Frontiers to Open Borders
  • 17:00-17:30: Reception

The 70th anniversary of the World Council of Churches in 2018 is an opportunity to mark the achievements of the past 70 years in working for Christian unity and action, and to look to the challenges ahead as a fellowship of churches responding to God’s call for unity, mission, justice and peace. This event is part of a series of anniversary celebrations taking place in various locations throughout the year.
