Christian and Muslim women in dialogue

Linking poverty, wealth and ecology: African ecumenical perspectives
When does the pursuit of economical wellbeing turn into greed? This is one of the questions to be discussed at a 5-9 November ecumenical consultation in Dar es Salaam. Joint church strategies and actions for addressing the interlinked problems of poverty, excessive wealth, and ecological degradation in Africa are intended results.

UN advocacy week
The greater Horn of Africa, along with the themes of water, nuclear disarmament and the Middle East, will be the primary focus of the United Nations advocacy week of the WCC. It brings together around 80 key people responsible for international affairs and advocacy in WCC member churches, specialized ministries and ecumenical organizations.

First meeting: Joint Consultative Group between Pentecostal churches and the WCC
The Joint Consultative Group between Pentecostal churches and the World Council of Churches (WCC) is meeting in its new configuration for the first time since the 9th WCC Assembly in 2006 renewed its mandate. Fifteen members of Pentecostal churches or WCC member churches are convening at the Focolare Centre in Baar near Zurich in October to set the agenda for the next seven years.

Healing of Memories - Reconciling Communities
This international ecumenical consultation will assess best practices in dealing with large-scale crimes affecting entire nations or ethnic communities. During the first days of October, some thirty international academics and reconciliation practitioners meeting at the Dominican retreat centre Tallaght, Dublin, will study the exemplary cases of Guatemala, Germany, South Africa, Cambodia, Northern Ireland.
