In God's Hands: the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle

1-7 April - We pray for Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore

Visitors to the World Council of Churches website will now find a brand-new feature on the homepage: the possibility of accessing the intercessory prayers prepared for each week of the year in what is called the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle.

A click on the words "This week we pray for…" and a corresponding image takes you to prayers and intercessions for the current week (1-7 April). These are always linked to a particular country and region; for this week, the countries are Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore.

From there, you can also preview prayers for the following week (8-14 April), relating to East Timor, Indonesia, Philippines. Another click takes you to background information on the Prayer Cycle itself. And very soon, you will also be able to link to related country profiles and descriptions of the member churches in the particular region, as they appear in the printed version of the Cycle.

A revised version of the Ecumenical Prayer Cycle entitled "In God's hands: common prayer for the world" was published in 2006. It enables us to journey in prayer through every region of the world and through every week of the year, affirming our solidarity with Christians all over the world, brothers and sisters living in diverse situations, experiencing diverse problems and sharing diverse gifts.
