"Unity and Mission today: Voices and visions from the margins" is the theme of the Global Platform for Theological Reflection in 2010.

Some 30 theologians from the networks associated with the WCC project Towards Just and Inclusive Communities – networks related to racism, migration, indigenous peoples; Dalits and disability – will take part in this reflection.

Their search for new meanings of unity and mission will be based on concrete historical experiences of discrimination, disempowerment and exclusion both within the church and the wider world. It will build on separate efforts by the different networks, such as the study document Church for All and of All, produced in 2003 by the Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network (EDAN), or the 2002 document on Being Church and Overcoming Racism.

The five networks share an understanding of theology as an instrument of change. At the conference in Bucharest, they will explore Christian unity and mission from their different perspectives with a view to articulate a common understanding in an aide memoire.

The meeting will be hosted by the Patriarchate of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
