    The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2011 will be grounded in the experience of the churches in Jerusalem. The theme - "One in the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer" - was chosen by a group of Christian leaders from Jerusalem and is based on the book of Acts (2:42). It is a call for inspiration and renewal, a return to the essentials of the faith; it is a call to remember the time when the church was still one.

    On 21 September, churches and communities throughout the world are committing to the International Day of Peace through prayer, meditation and other forms of spiritual observance. For 2010, the WCC office for the Decade to Overcome Violence (DOV) will make available prayer and liturgical resources developed in the context of this year's DOV focus on Africa.
