Reflections on a new ecumenical epoch
A stimulating and accessible discussion of contemporary ecumenical challenges was offered to central committee members on Monday 4 September. A new book, "Called to the One Hope", authored by WCC general secretary, Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia, offers reflections on the ecumenical movement based on his personal experiences and travel to each of the Council’s eight geographical regions over the last three years.
In the book, Kobia reviews the challenges facing WCC member churches and the world today, and discerns signs of hope for a season of renewal, following a period that has been described by some as “the ecumenical winter”. In these pages, Dr Kobia calls again to a spirituality of resistance in the face of all that threatens Creation, and asks all churches to join in ushering in a “new ecumenical epoch”.
"Called to the One Hope" is a new volume in the RISK series and is available from WCC Publications.
