In den vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnten hat der Ökumenische Rat der Kirchen (ÖRK) eine Vielzahl von Erklärungen und Materialien zur HIV/Aids-Problematik erarbeitet. Manche werden heute nicht mehr verwendet, andere sind bemerkenswert zeitlos und erfreuen sich weiterhin großer Nachfrage. 2002 wurde, in Zusammenarbeit mit der Gesamtafrikanischen Kirchenkonferenz, im Rahmen des ÖRK-Programms "Gesundheit und Heilen" die Ökumenische HIV/Aids-Initiative in Afrika (EHAIA) ins Leben gerufen. Sie hat seither eine Reihe von Publikationen hervorgebracht, die sicherlich nicht nur für den afrikanischen Kontext relevant sind. Alle diese Publikationen sind hier zugänglich, die meisten in englischer, viele auch in französischer Sprache, dazu einige spanisch- oder portugiesischsprachige Dokumente sowie Texte in afrikanischen Sprachen wie Kisuaheli, Lingala und Madagassisch.
Zur Verfügung stehen u. a. grundlegende Studien und Grundsatzerklärungen von Konsultationen kirchlicher Führungskräfte, die in Kirche und Gesellschaft zur Reflexion anregen sollen. Inzwischen sind auch Rahmenbedingungen für eine stärkere Beteiligung von HIV/Aids-Betroffenen im Leben der Kirche formuliert worden. Weiter stehen Materialien für Schulung, Unterricht, seelsorgerliche Beratung und Liturgie zur Verfügung.

The principles outlined here are not confined to church leaders and may have relevance to anyone in involved in this demanding field who may feel that ‘something is lacking’.
