Discussion platform - Theological reflection on migration
The Global Platform is an experiment in theological reflection and analysis around a chosen issue each year. For 2007, the issue was migration. A discussion platform is an opportunity to participate through sharing theological reflection on migration - stories, Bible studies, methodologies, statements and questions - and responding to what others have posted.
The views expressed in this forum do not necessarily reflect the opinions or policy of the World Council of Churches.
The Global Platform is an experiment so it is important that we learn from what we do. This document sets out some of what we have learnt about the process in general and theological reflection on migration in particular.

"This report was put together by Community organisers working with the grassroots movement of Refugees and Migrants Forum in the United Kingdom and with collaboration of activists working internationally. Our theological reflection is based on the political, social and economical analysis of commitment faith and a struggle to achieve justice, in God’s call to mission as a form of Christian Witness."

Angefügte Datei: Theological_reflection_on_refugees.pdfFinding Sanctuary: Migration, Community and the Churches is the theme chosen for the first of WCC’s new Global Platform for theological reflection and analysis.
The Global Platform Core Group chose the theme of migration as the first to be considered as, in its various forms and effects, it is a global reality. In some places fear motivates migration, in others migrant people are feared. Churches are challenged by migration not only to respond in advocacy and service but also in their own self-understanding as faith communities. There are many ecumenical partners responding to issues of migration but more theological reflection is necessary.
This Global Platform will be organised in close cooperation with other WCC programmes, especially that of Migration and Social Justice.
In order for the Global Platform to work, we need share information about theological reflections on migration that are taking place – stories, Bible studies, methodologies, statements and questions. This year we only have a short lead in time to the meeting of the Global Platform (26-29 November 2007) so please share what you have and join in the discussion.
We will be posting several written contributions already received by email.
Welcome to the WCC Global Patform for theological reflection and analysis. We hope that you will subscribe to the discussion platform and participate.
The Global Platform is an experiment in theological reflection around a different issue each year. We will learn how to make it work most effectively as we do it. But we do know where we start from. The attached Concept Paper sets out our thinking and intentions. If it doesn't answer your questions about the Global Platform, please ask them.
We look forward to your participation.
